Status (Battle Status)

Status (Battle Status) or statuses are conditions in which a Ninja goes through during battle and is displayed as a small icon that appears below the Ninja's name. These statuses might be self-inflicted (Ninja cause itself to enter a status or statuses) OR might be caused by other Ninjas (friendlies or enemies). These statuses are further classified as either BUFF or DEBUFF. These statuses are an important element in the flow of battle in Ultimate Naruto. A particular status can cause significant turn of events in a battle.

Buff

Buffs are positive statuses which provide positive effects and most of the time ensure the survival rate of the Ninja by increasing it's volition or raising the Ninja's attack prowess. Buffs are best identified as an icon with a + (plus sign) in the upper right corner.

Debuff

Debuffs are the counterpart of  Buffs and most of the time provide negative statuses. These debuffs reduces the survival rate of a Ninja by lowering it's volition or lowering the Ninja's attack prowess. Debuffs are best identified as an icon with a - (minus sign) in the upper right corner.

Special Status

Special Statuses are either Buff or Debuff in terms of effects, not in icon. They do not display the usual + or - sign to be identified to the two status faction but is either positive or negative based on their purpose.
